In Rajasthan, India, Channa, 25, holds her 14-month-old daughter Kiran, who averted her fate as a child bride with the help of local NGOs.

Photographer's Note: Channa had been forced by members of her family into marrying her young daughter so that the dowry they received would secure their financial future. It was a tragic case of the typical child marriages that take place in India. But eventually, with thanks to local NGOs, Channa eventually realised it was wrong and cancelled the wedding. Now Channa will allow her daughter to grow up like any other normal little girl and she will marry when she is ready and at an acceptable age.
