Photographer Virginia Lamprecht is a nurse, public health specialist, and demographer by training with over 20 years experience working in international development.

Virginia takes her camera with her when traveling for work to get the best images possible of women and children who are participating in or being reached by maternal, reproductive and child health programs supported by USAID. She works closely with international NGOs, providing technical assistance relating to program design and monitoring and evaluation.

At a relatively early age, Virginia took an interest in art that has continued to this day. As a busy professional, she enjoys photography because "it only takes a camera and a second to create an image and modern technology has made development and printing fast and feasible," says Virginia. While written reports are very useful, Virginia knows that a picture can tell a thousand words, and uses her photographs to communicate with others about USAID-supported health programs and also about the issues of maternal and child health in general.

Speaking about Photoshare Virginia, says, "I like sharing images through Photoshare because it is an action that brings together the joy and intellectual challenge of creating a good photograph, but also opens up the possibility of having the images used by individuals and organizations trying to improve the lives of women and children worldwide."
