During the month of November, Photoshare will feature photos related to women's empowerment, in honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25th). World AIDS Day (December 1st) is also quickly approaching, so stay tuned for photos related to the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Melissa May, seen here with the chief of a small village in northern Ghana, is the director of public information at the Population Council. She took a mid-career shift into public health after many years in Corporate America because she believes that the critical life and death issues faced every day around the world are far more important than those addressed by companies trading on the NYSE. She has taken photos since childhood and has traveled with as many as five SLR, digital, point-and-shoot, and video cameras while vacationing. May hopes that her submissions and the wonderful array of photographs available on Photoshare will be used by many organizations to encourage the support of programs that lend a hand to vulnerable people throughout the world.... Thank you for your interest in our annual, international photo contest. The deadline for the 2005 Photoshare Photo Contest has passed. Entries will not be accepted after October 15, 2005. Judging will take place the first two weeks of November and winners will be announced in December.
Subscribe to the Photoshare E-List to receive a monthly e-mail from Photoshare staff containing contest updates and other Photoshare news. This is also the best way to learn about next year's contest, which will take place between August and December 2006.
