Photographer Spotlight

Photoshare recently added new images documenting an Avian Influenza project in Cambodia that demonstrate the importance of photography in health communication programs. Stéphane Janin (a regular Photoshare contributor) is a Cambodia based freelance photographer and manager of Popil PhotoGallery in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. www.lepopil.com.

Stéphane’s images effectively present a range of activities involved in implementing a health communication project, from promotion to execution. The series of images provides the viewer with a first person perspective of the dissemination of materials, the performance and target audience.

Photography’s ability to both capture realities in the field and create empathy among viewers can play an important role in furthering the impact of health communication projects.

Actors with Sovanna Phum Arts Association, a project funded in part by USAID, toured villages in two provinces of Cambodia to perform theater education plays about avian influenza (bird flu).
